many faces and emotions

Whether you're navigating a life transition, managing chronic pain, adjusting to college, facing relationship difficulties, family conflict, anxiety, anger, or depression, I’m here to support you. I believe in the incredible potential for growth and transformation within every individual. Together, we will unlock that potential and work toward a more fulfilling life.

My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can reflect on your thoughts and emotions. I am committed to helping you gain insight and develop the skills necessary to better understand and accept yourself.

I bring experience in a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Chronic Pain Recovery, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Care, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Integrative Family and Systems Treatment (I-FAST), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). Using an integrative approach, I tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs.

Additionally, I offer Christian counseling and spiritual integration upon request, helping you explore and strengthen your faith as part of your healing process, if desired.

Learn about each of the different types of therapies:

Internal Family Systems (IFS)?

IFS is a therapeutic approach that explores the inner parts and emotions of individuals. As individuals, each of us has an internal family similar to the one depicted in Disney Pixar's movie, Inside Out. Our different parts or emotions are at times in harmony and other times in conflict. For example, there may be a part of you that wants to go to work out, and another part of you that wants to lay on the couch and watch TV. Or there may be a part of you that loves your partner, and another part of you that is really angry at them. In IFS, we learn about our internal parts, protectors, and character roles, and then establish a trusting relationship with ourselves and our reactions and emotions.

Chronic Pain Recovery

Are you struggling with chronic pain or another persistent condition, feeling like you’ve exhausted all options?

It’s easy to feel hopeless, as if this is the best it will ever be…

Mindbody Syndrome, also known as Tension Myositis Syndrome, encompasses a range of chronic pain or other persistent conditions, including migraines, back and neck pain, fibromyalgia, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), among others. The Mindbody approach is rooted in the belief that repressed emotions significantly contribute to physical pain.

We all experience Mindbody Syndrome to some extent—who hasn’t felt a headache after a stressful day or had an upset stomach upon receiving bad news? It’s crucial to recognize that this pain is very real.

In our society, the stigma surrounding emotional expression and self-care often leads to the internalization of stress and feelings of inadequacy. We all have an internal reservoir of emotions, and for many, this reservoir is near overflowing. When repressed emotions reach this tipping point, they send signals to our brains that we are unsafe, prompting a protective response.

As this emotional burden intensifies, we may begin to experience both emotional and physical pain. Pain acts as a warning signal, much like a smoke detector alerts us to a fire. Unfortunately, the conventional medical system often focuses on silencing the alarm without addressing the underlying flames of repressed emotions.

Our brains perceive these unprocessed feelings such as rage, shame, despair, and guilt as threats. These emotions trigger signals throughout the body that can lead to tension and pain, effectively distracting us from our emotional turmoil.

Believing in the possibility of healing requires a commitment to the necessary work, along with a generous dose of patience and self-compassion. By understanding and addressing the emotional roots of our pain, we can reclaim our well-being and live a truly inspired life.
